Brickell City Centre announces free parking, Uber partnership

Parking in Miami’s Brickell area just got to be less of a hassle — and cheaper. Brickell City Centre, the new downtown shopping-and-dining complex, is offering free parking in its underground lots for a limited period. (No word on how long that will last.) An initial free parking period ended in November, when a $3-per-hour charge began. Of course, you could take Metrorail or Metromover; both have stations nearby. Click Full Article for more details. Little Haiti Will Gentrify Faster Than Any Other South Florida Neighborhood in 2017

A little more than a year ago, activist Marleine Bastien stood outside on a clear December day, waving signs in front of the headquarters of Fanm Ayisyen nan Miyami, her Little Haiti-based women’s rights organization. The group was demanding one thing from the City of Miami: Slow the rapidly snowballing pace of gentrification in the historically working-class Caribbean neighborhood. Thirteen months later, that request appears to have fallen on deaf ears. A host of massive luxury apartment and entertainment complexes is in the works, and...

Artistic Collins Parking Garage in Miami Beach Hadid design coming soon

The Miami Beach City Commission on Wednesday agreed to issue a new request for proposals to build a city-owned garage in the booming Collins Park neighborhood. The planned garage for 340 23rd Street has been on hold for several years after city officials balked at an original proposal submitted by the late architect Zaha Hadid, which city officials said would have cost nearly double what the city had originally planned. While they approved the request for proposals, the commission dropped a residential use requirement that could have led to...

With 2017 Approaching, South Florida’s Real Estate Market Is Still Kicking

Keeping up with South Florida tradition, a number of big-dollar real estate deals have marked the last few weeks of the year. Starting with a major step forward for the $2 billion Miami Worldcenter project, developers CIM Group and Falcone Group scored a hefty construction loan for the project’s 444-unit apartment complex. The $89 million loan will fuel construction of the development’s east tower — the first phase of the Seventh Street Apartments, a two-tower rental community near Northeast First Avenue and Northeast Seventh...

Miami Beach Convention Center renovation speeds up

The entire west side of the Miami Beach Convention Center is getting replaced as the renovation and expansion of the facility speed up heading into the first quarter of 2017. No events will be held at the center until late May, and work will continue for months after it partially reopens. The $600 million redo remains behind schedule after planning, permitting and design changes slowed work earlier this year. The contractor, Clark Construction, is expected to submit a plan to recover lost time in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, construction work...
