Grab your clubs: a newly minted development deal could bring South Florida’s first Topgolf facility to Miami Gardens.Miami Gardens officials reportedly gave the green light for the sale of 15 city-owned acres to a firm called Urban Property Holdings, as part of a deal that will see the construction of a 65,000-square-foot sports entertainment facility.
The Miami Herald reported that Urban, which is managed by Massachusetts attorney and developer James Levin, will pay roughly $4 million for the land under the agreement.
It then plans to sublease the property to Topgolf, which will build a three-story entertainment complex with its own driving range, restaurant and bar. The golf balls used by patrons are microchipped so stats like range can be tracked and translated into points for games.
This will be Topgolf’s first venue in South Florida, adding onto its portfolio of 36 locations spread throughout the country.
